How to increase Ubuntu 22.04 disk size (VM running in VMWARE FUSION)

Adding extra disk space is quite easy in VMWARE

Step 1: Increase Diskpace in Vmware

Shut down vmware , click setting > choose disk and increase diskspace to desired limits

Step 2: Change Disksize using ssh

Power on vmware and connect with ssh

use this command to identify the disk size

lsblk

Step 3: Resize the partition in Ubuntu

sudo fdisk -l

Increase max size / allot the max disk size

Use growpart to grow the partition to the maximum size available.

growpart /dev/sda 3
sudo pvresize /dev/sda3
sudo lvextend -l +100%FREE /dev/ubuntu-vg/ubuntu-lv
sudo resize2fs /dev/ubuntu-vg/ubuntu-lv

Verify the New disk size

df -h
lsblk
